In the early 1970’s, I began my career in the lumber industry trading lumber. A few years later, in 1973, I became a partner at Pacific Overland Timber. Over the next 14 years, I learned what it takes to both trade lumber and run a company.

In 1987, Skana Forest Products Ltd. was incorporated. With a couple of card tables, a phone and knowledge of the industry, the journey began – that was all you needed back then. While it’s been nearly 30 years, the business world has changed and Skana has grown and evolved; made up of a team of new and young and experienced traders, with satellite offices in Vernon and Montreal. In 2021, I assumed the role of Chief Executive Officer and continue to be actively involved in the company, providing advice and guidance.

I have always believed in being involved and giving back to the industry. I am Past President of the BC Wholesale Lumber Association and Past Chairman of the Western Red Cedar Lumber Association and the North American Lumber Association.

Skana is a Charter Member of the NAWLA Traders Market. Skana also belongs to many other different lumber associations, in order to keep abreast of what is happening in all aspects of the lumber market. We look forward to the coming years as we continue to provide the best service to our current customers and vendors and look at ways to expand our customer base and explore new markets that are always on the horizon.
